For Marcia and Bruce, this was their first kitchen remodel. After thorough research, they selected Stebnitz Builders to help guide them and make sense of what seemed like a tremendous undertaking.
Their existing kitchen no longer supported their way of living. Marcia loves to cook, but the space lacked storage, functionality, and warmth. While the layout proved challenging, the island cooktop was a must-keep.
The design team of Lynne Landgraf, Dana Anderson, and Chris Egner got right to work guiding Bruce and Marcia through the design process with multiple meetings to understand exactly how to improve the kitchen to match the look they wanted and the functionality they needed.
The island was expanded and oriented to face the outdoors, giving Marcia clear views of their rural property while she cooks. A ceiling-mounted hood vent keeps those views open and uninterrupted. The result is a space where cooking and gathering happen simultaneously.
To improve flow, an underused kitchenette was replaced with a larger island that now offers generous seating and connects more naturally to the adjacent dining room.
With a do-it-once mindset, Marcia and Bruce selected the features they always wanted. A wall oven was installed at a comfortable height for long-term use. A premium refrigerator and upgraded cooktop complete a kitchen designed for both performance and everyday convenience.
A dedicated beverage and coffee area enhances functionality. Featuring a built-in beverage center and an in-wall coffee system connected to a water line, guests can serve themselves without interrupting the kitchen.
The finishes tie everything together. Two-tone cabinets add contrast while keeping it bright. Warm wood trim was preserved, and new LVP flooring offers durability and comfort. A new Kolbe casement window replaces the old planter window, allowing more natural light to flood the kitchen.
The result is a kitchen that feels open, warm, and easy to live in. It supports how Marcia cooks, how they gather, and how they want to enjoy their home for years to come.
