Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) | nahb.org
The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry: home modifications for the aging-in-place.
The baby boom generation has many choices as this large population of potential clients for remodelers, builders, contractors and occupational therapists considers where to live – but overwhelmingly, seniors would prefer to stay in their own homes. The CAPS designation offers your potential clients what they need most: reassurance that you’ll help them make the choices that will help them stay in their homes safely and securely.
In addition, the CAPS designation helps you make your clients’ homes more “visitable.” Even if the home owners don’t think they need additional task lighting, grab bars, and other home modifications for their own use, their family members and visitors might. CAPS helps you help your clients make the right choices, and it gives you more security in remodeling market niche that’s continuing to grow in popularity.

GuildQuality’s Guildmaster Award | guildquality.com
The Guildmaster Awards recognize exemplary customer service among homebuilders, remodelers, real estate developers, and home services contractors. Their annual Guildmaster Awards celebrate service excellence in the building, remodeling, contracting, and real estate professions. Each year, GuildQuality gives special recognition to the companies that demonstrate an ability to deliver a consistently superior customer experience.
In granting awards, GuildQuality considers two primary metrics for each candidate: the percentage of customers who would recommend and the percentage of customers who responded. Incorporating a high response rate into the calculation enables them to confidently recognize top performing companies, however, in many cases, some companies will receive very high customer satisfaction scores but may not qualify because too few customers responded to a survey.
Since 2005, the Guildmaster Award recognizes companies within the GuildQuality community of quality who consistently deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Certified Green Professional (CGP) | nahb.org
The Certified Green Professional™ designation recognizes builders, remodelers and other industry professionals who incorporate green building principles into homes— without driving up the cost of construction. Classwork leading to the designation provides a solid background in green building methods, as well as the tools to reach consumers, from the organization leading the charge to provide market-driven green building solutions to the home building industry.
Also known as sustainable or high performance construction, green building incorporates construction and development techniques, materials and designs intended to minimize a home’s impact on the environment and conserve natural resources. Green building is a practical response to a wide range of issues affecting all consumers. These include such concerns as rising energy costs, the need to ensure clean water and minimize water usage, and the need to improve air quality. In short, home builders strive to maximize efficiency and sustainability in every aspect of new home construction and in home remodeling.
NAHB supports sustainable, high performance new home construction and remodeling, encourages its members to build green, and works pro-actively to facilitate their efforts.
Why It Matters
Green building/high performance building is important to the home building industry, consumers and the nation because it promotes lower total ownership costs through utility savings and increased durability as well as an improved indoor living environment. It also encourages environmental awareness and stewardship and more efficient use of increasingly scarce resources and helps to conserve them for future generations. Voluntary, non-prescriptive green programs provide builders and consumers with the flexibility that they need to construct homes that are sustainable, affordable, cost-effective and appropriate to the home’s geographic location.
