Fontana Home Revitalized to Create Family Memories for Generations

Our clients each had separate ties to Geneva Lake before they met one another and started their family. Thirty years later, they decided it was time to accomplish one of their dreams: owning their own home in the Geneva Lake area.

On a walk along the lake path, they spotted the perfect place and, as luck would have it, it was for sale.

As they started the process of purchasing the home, they reached out to our team with the idea of a whole home remodeling project. They wanted to make this Geneva Lake getaway their own for their family to enjoy for generations.

Our design team got right to work. After several discussions with our clients on layout, function and design, the footprint of home more than doubled. We added a sleeping quarters, two-and-a-half baths and helped our clients reconfigure the remaining layout of the home to best fit their lifestyle.

One of the main changes was moving the kitchen from one side of the home to the space that was formerly occupied by the master bedroom. We extended the footprint of the house to make space for an open-concept great room and dining room combination. This allowed our clients more space to entertain. The addition gave our clients plenty of kitchen space with a large island that seats seven while providing even more seating in the meal prep area.

Our clients repurposed the old dining room and kitchen space to accommodate a bedroom on the main floor and space for an at-home office. All of this created better use of space as their kitchen now easily flows into the great room and dining areas. It also allows the bedroom to be in a more secluded area of the main floor.

One of the spaces our clients hoped to create was a master bedroom suite. Their bedroom has views overlooking the lake, which starts their morning beautifully. The views don’t stop when they enter their bathroom as they have a port window above their sink. This design allows them watch the boats go by as they brush their teeth!

There is another bedroom suite on the second floor, but the real draw to that level is the rec room. Our clients designed this room with a passion for their alma mater in the back of their mind. A Notre Dame pool table sits prominently as you step inside the French doors. It is a perfect spot to watch the Fighting Irish on a Saturday while spending time with family and friends. To top it off, looking out the window gives you a beautiful look at Geneva Lake.

Adjacent to the rec room is a sleeping porch that was inspired by our client’s trips to their family vacation spot as a child. The sleeping porch is a unique feature that allows more people to stay and engage in the family fun for years to come.

The lower level is finished with a mud room, a living space, full bathroom, and bedroom for the youngest of the family. It is the perfect use of the space to create a separate area to expand the living space.
