Remodeling Walworth County homes, since 1972, has provided us with many great opportunities. One of which, was realized when our Remodeling Consultant, Jeff Auberger, began working with our client in 2021. When Jeff started researching the home, he discovered Stebnitz Builders had previously designed and built a second-story addition on that home, for another client, over 20 years prior.
Fast forward 20 years to today.
We started the journey of optimizing this lake cottage to create the retreat our clients dreamed of. The layout of the home was set so the kitchen was on the lakeside wall. Because of this, our clients had a minimal view of the lake from the living area designated for entertaining. Our main priority was optimizing the feature of the home that drew our clients to it: Geneva Lake.
To complete the interior work, we completely redesigned the kitchen and added a kitchen island. We replaced the flooring and leveled the floor system before adding a Paramount Engineered Hardwood flooring. We also remodeled our client’s master suite to include a deep purple accent wall behind their bed, a free-standing soaking tub, and a walk-in tile shower. The first floor work also included a flex room, which is outfitted with exercise equipment. We also remodeled another full bathroom connected to the flex room, and we outfitted a new laundry room with a unique subway tile pattern.
Another aspect of this project was transforming the look of the home by updating the exterior finishes and features. We modernized the look of the exterior by substituting the original cream colored siding with a color match of Snowscape White by LP Smartside. This was complemented with bronze exterior trim finishes to create a modern, but timeless, look. We also upgraded the lakeside decks to give our clients more space to entertain on those beautiful summer lake days.
We also designed an addition to the lake-facing side of the home to incorporate a three-season room. Using the SunSpace system, we created a space that provides all the benefits of enjoying the wonderful Wisconsin weather while mitigating the effects of bugs. It also allows our clients to use the space through any weather with weather-tight screen units.
Finally, 20 years after we completed the second-story addition, we molded the second level to better fit the goals of our clients. We added a wet bar area that allows our clients to entertain on both levels of their home. We also added living space to enjoy unobstructed views of the lake while they send time with family and friends.
Once the finishing touches were put on the home, it became a 100% Stebnitz home. We are honored that are clients continue to choose us for all of their remodeling needs.
