Quartz, Timber, and Timeless Style: A Lakeside Kitchen & Bath Remodel

Mary has always cherished her family’s lakefront retreat in Williams Bay. Originally built in the 1980s as a Lindal Cedar timber-frame home, the house had served as a beloved gathering place for years. But after decades of memories, it was time for a fresh update that matched the home’s character and her evolving needs.

Project Overview

The kitchen, with its outdated cabinets and limited storage, quickly became the focal point of the remodel. Mary partnered with our remodeling consultant, Lynne Landgraf, to bring her vision to life, enhancing both the beauty and functionality of the space.

Working within the existing layout, we gave the peninsula a major upgrade: elegant quartz countertops with bold black veining, finished with a dramatic waterfall edge that catches every guest’s eye. We also added thoughtful features like a built-in beverage fridge for easy access and a microwave insert to maintain as much counter space as possible.

To unify the home’s design, we chose black cabinetry that ties in with existing elements in the family room. Strategic layout changes, like replacing some cabinets with deep drawers and extending others, created smart, efficient storage without altering the footprint.

Lighting was another key update. The original track lighting was replaced with a more effective solution tailored to the timber ceilings, enhancing the kitchen’s ambiance while preserving the home’s unique architecture.

A new custom bench with built-in seating redefined the kitchen table area, offering ample space for family meals and seamlessly connecting the kitchen to the rest of the home.

Across from the kitchen, we refreshed the look of Mary’s bathroom. The old fiberglass tub was replaced with a walk-in tile shower, more fitting for a modern lake home. A sleek window trim using Schluter materials allowed the window to blend beautifully into the new tilework.

The new vanity compliments the design we created in the kitchen with black cabinetry and white countertops to create a cohesive flow between spaces, blending comfort and style throughout Mary’s lakefront retreat.
