Seamless Kitchen, Dining, and Guest Bath Remodel in Fontana

Steve and Kate came to us with a clear challenge: their early-2000s kitchen simply didn’t live up to the scale of their home or the needs of their busy family. While the space was generous, it lacked sufficient cabinetry, functional storage, and intentional gathering areas. Their goal was to transform the kitchen into a highly functional, design-forward hub that better supported everyday life and large family gatherings while reflecting a clean, modern aesthetic.

The redesign focused on unlocking the full potential of an awkward layout and turning it into a cohesive, multi-functional environment. By introducing frameless, slab-front cabinetry, the space now reflects a refined, mid-modern aesthetic with clean lines and a timeless feel.

A key move was removing the existing walk-in pantry. In its place, we created expanded cabinetry that delivers equal or greater storage while also carving out a purposeful family drop zone complete with charging stations and space for everyday essentials. This addition supports the rhythm of a household with active teenagers and frequent gatherings.

At the heart of the kitchen is a large, multi-functional island designed for both prep and connection. One side serves as a dedicated workspace, while the other offers ample seating, allowing everyone in the room to stay engaged whether cooking, studying, or socializing. The island anchors the space and helps unify the kitchen and dining areas into one seamless experience.

Maintaining a dedicated dining space was important to our clients, but they also wanted a more casual, flexible area for everyday use. The solution was a custom banquette and workspace nook inspired by a Moroccan light fixture the couple discovered during their travels. This feature adds personality and warmth, creating a unique corner where the family can gather for homework, casual meals, or conversation. Paired with a built-in dry bar, the space balances functionality with a strong design narrative rooted in the homeowners’ personal story.

To improve flow and cohesion, we introduced a new archway to mirror an existing one, bringing symmetry to the space and enhancing the home’s architectural character. We also carefully matched new maple flooring to the existing floors throughout the home, ensuring continuity. A significant amount of behind-the-scenes craftsmanship went into wall refinishing and texture matching, especially where layout changes, lighting updates, and new openings were introduced. The result is a seamless finish where every modification feels original to the home.

Adjacent to the kitchen, the underutilized guest bathroom was reimagined as a welcoming, elevated space for visitors. The update replaced a standard fiberglass shower with a fully tiled surround and introduced a rich, deep navy palette to create a moody, sophisticated atmosphere. Though smaller in scope, this transformation significantly enhances the guest experience, turning a once-overlooked room into a memorable retreat.

What was once an underperforming kitchen is now a dynamic, highly functional centerpiece of the home, supporting everything from weeknight dinners to large family gatherings. Thoughtful layout changes, personalized design elements, and meticulous craftsmanship came together to create a space that feels both elevated and deeply livable. Steve and Kate were thrilled with the outcome and are already looking ahead to their next project.
