Nestled along the shores of Lake Beulah, this 900-square-foot cottage was redesigned to make the most of every inch of space while maintaining the cozy lakefront charm. With two bedrooms upstairs and the only full bath on the first floor, the goal was to create a practical layout without losing the home’s character.
Previously, the entry foyer was tiny and mostly consumed by a first-floor mechanical room that took up valuable space and restricted flow. Moving all mechanical systems into a newly spray-foamed, conditioned crawl space freed up room to create a welcoming drop zone and allowed us to reconfigure access to the bathroom, which was awkwardly routed through the kitchen.
The staircase, once underutilized, was transformed into a multifunctional hub: a stacked laundry closet was tucked beneath it, and a custom, built-in drawer was integrated into the wall for extra storage.
The kitchen and dining area overlooking Lake Beulah were updated for modern convenience and improved sight-lines of the lake. A striking waterfall quartz peninsula anchors the design, with discreet pop-up outlets that preserve the uninterrupted stone finish. A clever pantry installation, aligned with the bathroom’s shared wall, allowed us to add a built-in linen cabinet on the opposite side, maximizing storage for both spaces. Floating shelves, a modernized stacked-tile backsplash, and fresh finishes complete the look.
The living room gained warmth and charm with the addition of an electric fireplace, perfect for cozy evenings by the lake. New LVP flooring was installed throughout both levels, creating visual continuity while offering durability for lakefront living.
Every surface was refreshed to highlight the home’s character. Natural shiplap ceilings combined with crisp white trim create a timeless cottage atmosphere. Upstairs, sliding barn doors glide over built-in dressers, providing efficient “his and hers” closets in each bedroom without crowding the space.
The lake-facing deck was also updated with new railings, enhancing safety and providing a stylish vantage point to enjoy the view.
Through thoughtful reconfiguration, upgraded systems, and design-driven details, this Lake Beulah cottage was transformed into a highly functional and inviting retreat. Every feature, from hidden storage solutions to statement finishes, was crafted to maximize the modest footprint while maintaining the home’s warm, welcoming charm.
