This home in Williams Bay is truly one-of-a-kind. Our clients came to us, looking to add more space to their home, while still embracing the unique features of their current home.
We designed a two-story addition that included a formal dining area and large pantry off the existing kitchen on the main floor and a large crafting room and workshop on the second level. We also included an elevator to ensure safe access to the second floor as they age.
What really makes this project stand out are the personalized touches our clients added, starting with the spiral staircase. Our client formed the stringer for the spiral staircase based on the previous spiral staircase in the home and secured it with over 300 screws. Our master carpenter, Denny Vingers, cut and installed the treads to form the perfect spiral pattern. The wrought iron railing for the stairs was designed and produced by their son, who founded and operates a company in Lake Geneva, WI building custom wood boats.
For the elevator doors, we repurposed custom knotty pine doors that our client’s father built, adding an historic feel with deep sentimental value to a modern amenity.
Notice the red spindles surrounding the second-level porch. Our client designed and crafted those himself and had our team install them. On the eaves, they wanted to install “curlicue” gutter extensions, instead of a traditional downspout. They not only grab your attention, but they work great, keeping the rainwater away from the home in an artistic fashion.
The final artistic feature of this home is the significant support beam in the dining room. Our client carved personal designs into the beam, adding another point of interest to this very unique home.
Their vision, paired with our designers and carried out by our talented craftsmen, created a one-of-a-kind home we are proud to be a part of.
